The Maldives established diplomatic ties with Eritrea

Maldives officially established diplomatic relations with Eritrea on Thursday. 

Perpetual Representative of Maldives to the United Nations Thilmeeza Hussain and her Eritrean partner Sophia Tesfamariam Yohannes marked the Joint Communiqué formalizing conciliatory relations at a service held at the Permanent Mission of Maldives to the UN in New York. 

With a populace of around 3.2 million, Eritrea is a north African country along the red ocean coast that offers borders with Ethiopia, Sudan and Djibouti. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeated the current organization’s international strategy obligation to develop associations with different nations. 

Following the foundation of political relations with Eritrea, the Maldives right now keeps up ties with 176 nations.
