Pre-recorded Message delivered by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh on behalf of the President of the State of Eritrea, H.E. Mr. Isaias Afwerki, at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly

I have the pleasure to convey this discourse on behalf of the President of the State of Eritrea, H.E.Mr. The UN General Assembly is occurring this year at a basic point when the world is at a go cross-roads because of the horrendous COVID-19 worldwide pandemic that has taught a monstrous death toll up until now. In taking everything into account, I had expressed, and I quote, “the world is on the cusp of another world request. Concerning Africa, my comments were, and I quote, “Africa’s lot over the past quarter of a century has been onerous. Africa’s resources were plundered wantonly. Despite hollow phrases of ‘conflict prevention’ and ‘conflict resolution’, wars and upheavals continue to increase and fester. Almost 1 billion Africans remain marginalized through the collusion of external predators, their local surrogates, and corrupt special-interest entities. This tragic reality requires utmost and urgent attention for effective remedies”. Regarding the circumstance in our neighborhood in particular the Horn of Africa and Red Sea Region, the striking focuses underlined in my message of a year ago were: and I quote: “the two districts have been hugely and excessively distressed in the previous 25 years by remotely affected, obstinate, internecine ethnic and tribe clashes, just as strife and wars among neighboring countries….. Too bad, what’s going on in our reality this year is the discouraging cataclysm; the enormous death toll that COVID-19 has and keeps on bringing about worldwide.
